Both are amounts for the same loan. “Comfortable up to” is what we recommend: the repayment leaves room in your budget. “Within the limit” is the most Banco de Portugal’s rules allow. Between the two, the loan is possible, but it takes a bigger share of your income.

It is the share of the household’s monthly income used to repay loans. Banco de Portugal’s reference limit is 45%, in force since 1 August 2026; FINOVA recommends keeping it lower, typically up to 30 to 35%, to leave more room in the budget.
